Pop star Nicole Scherzinger has said that she “wouldn’t wish a long distance” relationship “on anyone” as she struggles with seeing her Formula One racing driver boyfriend Lewis Hamilton just once a month.
The 32-year-old – who had a No.1 hit in the UK with Don’t Hold Your Breath – has been dating 26-year-old Englishman Hamilton for three years, although there have been some bumpy moments along the way for the couple.
While the former Pussycat Dolls lead singer and Hamilton have accepted that it is difficult to arrange regular dates due to their own thriving careers, Nicole reckons that “more than a month” apart “is a little too long”.
Additionally, Nicole confessed to finding it “hard” not being able to provide support for Hamilton while he races across the globe as “he sees other drivers who have their girls with them the whole time”.
The singer, songwriter, dancer, TV presenter and sometime actress is adamant that she will remain her “own independent woman”, though, while giving the 2008 Formula One world champion as much encouragement as possible.
But Nicole considers independence to play a vital a role in who she is, adding that she takes great “pride in coming from humble beginnings” to have now reached the point in her own career to take financial “care of my whole family”.
The singer continued by saying that “you have to be independent” when working in the entertainment industry as she reckons “you have to stand up for what you believe in” as well as “who you are” while also going after “what you want”.
